WOVA is a four-tower mixed-use precinct on the corner of Melrose Drive and Launceston Street in Phillip, built by Geocon. The project delivered 802 apartments, 54 Abode Hotel rooms and 22 ground-floor commercial tenancies across buildings ranging from 12 to 24 storeys, linked by landscaped paths and green spaces. The precinct anchors the western side of the Woden Town Centre, with retail, food and beverage and medical tenancies at street level.

CPS worked with Geocon to pump, place and finish the concrete structure across the WOVA precinct — four towers built out on one site at the same time. Our crews delivered basement, ground floor commercial and suspended slabs through buildings of 12 to 24 storeys, running multiple fronts concurrently and rotating pumps and crews to keep every tower cycling.

The project carried its share of setbacks, including COVID-era constraints and a landslip in the excavation during Canberra’s 2022 wet, and the concrete program had to absorb and recover from those without losing the floor cycle. Working on a busy town centre corner with live traffic on Melrose Drive and Launceston Street, CPS planned access, pump positions and pour windows around the surrounding road network, supporting Geocon in delivering one of the largest residential precincts ever built in Canberra’s south.
