Wayfarer is a landmark residential tower on the corner of Eastern Valley Way and Aikman Drive in the Belconnen town centre, built by Geocon. Standing 88 metres over 27 storeys, it was the tallest residential building in Canberra on completion, delivering 331 one, two and three-bedroom apartments along with basement parking and a 27th-level infinity pool. The two main façades face east and west to maximise solar access around the entire building, with apartments capturing views over Lake Ginninderra and the surrounding district.
CPS worked with Geocon to pump, place and finish the concrete structure at Wayfarer, then the tallest residential building in Canberra. Our crews delivered the basement levels, podium and suspended slabs to the top of the 27-storey tower, with pumps set up to reach 88 metres and pours coordinated between ground-level operators and placing crews working high above.
Holding a consistent floor cycle at that height demanded tight planning of concrete deliveries, pump downtime and crew rotation, with the rooftop level carrying the added complexity of an infinity pool structure and its associated falls, set-downs and loadings. Working on a busy town centre corner beside Eastern Valley Way, CPS planned access and pour windows around live traffic, delivering 331 apartments’ worth of quality slab surfaces for Geocon.
