Strathnairn School is a new preschool to year 6 public primary school and co-located Early Childhood Education and Care centre in Ginninderry, delivered by Icon for the ACT Government. The facility caters for up to 780 students and a further 130 ECEC places, with flexible general and specialist learning environments, indoor and outdoor learning areas and integrated spaces for students with specialised needs. Outdoor facilities include a 3,900sqm playing field, a combined basketball and netball court, nature play areas and a sensory courtyard. The school is 100 per cent electric in operation and targets a 5-Star Green Star rating. Stage one opened for the 2026 school year, with the ECEC opening in April 2026.
CPS worked with Icon to pump, place and finish the concrete at Strathnairn School and ECEC. Our crews delivered the footings, ground slabs and structural elements across the school and childcare buildings, along with the hardstand, courtyard and external paving slabs that tie the campus together.
Education projects carry their own demands — durable, high-quality floor finishes across large learning areas, precise levels and falls through courtyards and play spaces, and a structure that has to meet Green Star, bushfire and flood resilience requirements. The program was staged so that preschool to year 2 facilities could open for the start of the 2026 school year, which meant hitting fixed, non-negotiable handover dates. CPS worked closely with Icon to keep pours sequenced around that program, contributing to Ginninderry’s first school.
