Founders Lane is a $500 million mixed-use precinct by JWLand between the Canberra CBD and Braddon, delivering 781 apartments across four buildings, along with commercial tenancies, a childcare centre and a landscaped pedestrian link through the site. Stage 2, Provenance, is a purely residential building of 139 apartments over six levels, reaching practical completion alongside Stage 1 in 2019. Stage 3, Dawn, added a further 207 apartments and forms part of the final 448-apartment release delivered with Stage 4, topping out in April 2021 with the first residents moving in early 2022.
CPS worked with JWLand across Stages 2 and 3 of Founders Lane, pumping, placing and finishing the concrete structure at Provenance and Dawn. Our crews delivered the basement levels, ground floor and post-tensioned suspended slabs, moving straight from one stage into the next as the precinct was built out building by building over several years.
The site is bounded by Cooyong Street, Ainslie Avenue and Currong Street North, with occupied buildings, heritage neighbours and public traffic on every side, so pump positions, deliveries and pour windows were planned to keep disruption to a minimum while holding the floor cycle. CPS’s finishing teams delivered consistent, high-tolerance slab surfaces across hundreds of apartments, supporting JWLand in transforming a former public housing block into one of Canberra’s largest inner-city precincts.
