The DHA Gungahlin building is the new national head office for Defence Housing Australia, delivered by Construction Control in the Gungahlin Town Centre. The building comprises a single level basement, 75 car parks, ground floor including 1,000m2 of retail, a lobby and back of house areas, and two main floors of office accommodation for DHA. Anchoring the corner of Hibberson and Hinder Streets adjacent to the light rail line, the building brought around 240 staff together in one purpose-built workplace, with the construction of the Gungahlin building commencing in July 2020 and completing in early 2022.
CPS worked with Construction Control to pump, place and finish the concrete structure at the DHA Gungahlin head office. Our crews delivered the basement, ground floor retail and lobby slabs and the suspended office floors above, working on a compact town centre block bounded by live streets, the light rail corridor and neighbouring businesses.
Pump set-ups and pour windows were planned around light rail operations and public access to keep the surrounding precinct running. With retail and office floors that would carry exposed and high-specification finishes, CPS’s finishing teams delivered the flat, consistent slab surfaces the fit-out demanded, helping Construction Control hand over Gungahlin’s first Commonwealth office building on program.
