Civic Quarter — Stage 2

Following CQ1, CPS returned to the Civic Quarter precinct with Construction Control to pump, place and finish the concrete structure at CQ2 — a larger and more complex tower on a busier corner. Our crews delivered the basement levels, ground floor and suspended slabs to all 13 storeys, working around a full-height atrium that removed the simple repetition most towers rely on and demanded careful sequencing and edge treatment floor by floor.

The site fronts Northbourne Avenue, Cooyong Street and Mort Street at one of Canberra’s busiest intersections, with light rail running past the boundary and CQ1 occupied next door, so pump positions, deliveries and pour windows were planned to keep the city moving. CPS delivered the high-tolerance slab finishes required for a Commonwealth tenancy fit-out, helping Construction Control complete an award-winning building on program.
