The redevelopment of the Multi User Terminal at Canberra Airport is the largest privately funded piece of public infrastructure ever built in Canberra, delivered by Construction Control for the Capital Airport Group. Works included a new 50,000m² terminal, two 38,000m² car parks with office accommodation on the top levels, a central elevated road, road network infrastructure and the upgrading and extension of aprons and taxiways to service international and domestic aircraft. The staged redevelopment more than doubled terminal space, tripled check-in capacity and quadrupled baggage handling, all while the existing airport remained fully operational.
CPS worked with Construction Control on concrete placement for the Canberra Airport terminal redevelopment — one of the largest and most complex building projects ever undertaken in the territory. Our crews placed and finished slabs across the new terminal concourse, the multi-storey car parks and the elevated roadway structures, working to large-volume pours and tight level tolerances over an extended program.
With all works carried out in and around a live, operating terminal, CPS planned pump set-ups, access and pour sequencing around flight schedules and public movement, keeping the program running without disrupting airport operations. The result was a durable, high-quality concrete structure underpinning a landmark piece of Canberra infrastructure.
