Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin is a large format retail development on the corner of Hibberson and Gribble Streets, delivered by ADCO Constructions. The 17,000-square-metre complex comprises the main store, indoor timber trade sales area, building materials and landscape supplies yard, outdoor nursery, indoor playground and café, along with parking for more than 380 cars. The Bunnings store occupies the upper level above around 5,000 square metres of additional ground floor retail tenancies fronting Hibberson Street, making it the first development in Gungahlin to cater for large format retailers.
CPS worked with ADCO Constructions on the concrete at Bunnings Warehouse Gungahlin. Our crews placed and finished the external and internal slabs and the suspended structure carrying the warehouse above the ground floor retail level — large-volume pours where flatness, levels and a hard-wearing finish are the end product, since retail and trade floors carry constant trolley, forklift and vehicle traffic.
The supplies yard, nursery and carparking areas added further slab work with falls set to drainage. Working on a prominent town centre corner in a rapidly growing suburb, CPS coordinated pump set-ups, deliveries and pour sequencing with ADCO to keep the program running alongside surrounding streets and businesses, contributing to a project that brought large format retail to Gungahlin for the first time.
